Welcome to the Club!
By Stan Olenik. Editor-Publisher, The Golf Club
The wait is over for the new golf season to really get going—and our first edition of 2026 is here for you to download.
It took a little extra time to get The Golf Club back to start the season.
In the 34 years I’ve been bringing golf news from the Carolinas—made by Carolinians and for Carolinians—this was one of the more unusual starts.
Some of it was out of our control.
The weather didn’t cooperate. Every time we got ready to move forward, it seemed like the golf gods were told to wait a little longer.
And then there was the uncertainty around tariffs. The materials needed to produce the paper come from Canada and China, and until there was some clarity, we simply couldn’t lock in costs or move forward with advertisers.
But the weather has cleared—and so has the fog.
And we’re back at just about the perfect time.

A Good Time to Return
This issue is headlined by one of our own—Jacob Bridgeman, who goes to The Masters Tournament ranked No. 1 in the FedEx standings.
There have been plenty of “Who is Jacob Bridgeman?” stories out on line.
We think ours is a little different.
It’s told through the eyes of his father, Tim—from the days when the clubs were bigger than he was, to the top of the PGA Tour.
And that’s just the start.
This edition includes more than a dozen stories catching you up on the offseason, changes at area courses, and the high school game as it moves toward championships at Myrtle Beach.
