Class A-AA

Mia Carles of Clinton, a future College of Charleston golfer, got off to an amazing start at Myrtle Beach National. She did not record a par until the eighth hole.
Carles opened with a birdie, an eagle and another birdie before bogeys on Nos. 4 and 5. She followed with another eagle on No. 6 and a bogey on No. 7. A birdie on No. 9 gave her a 4-under-par 32 on the front nine. She added a 1-under 35 on the back nine to take the individual lead.
Carles leads Arley Jennings of MVP by five shots. Jennings shot an even-par 72 to lead the Stars to a nine-shot advantage over Clinton.
Class 5A
Last year, the Dorman Cavaliers were poised to win a third straight state championship before Lexington topped them.
After Monday’s first round at River Hills Golf and Country Club in Little River, Dorman holds a one-shot lead over River Bluff. Defending champion Lexington is in third, 12 shots back.
Junior A.C. Peake shot a 6-over-par 78 for Dorman. She trails individual leader Julia Gressette of Cane Bay by one shot.
Class 4A
T.L. Hanna of Anderson is looking to win another state title, this time in a different classification.
Conway holds the first-round lead at the Hackler Course at Coastal Carolina. The Tigers shot 19-over par to take a 12-shot lead over West Florence and a 13-shot lead over Hanna.
Conway’s Reese Richardson leads the individual competition after shooting 1-under par. She is one shot ahead of Harper Hedden of Hilton Head and two shots ahead of Hanna’s Serra Erlenkeuser.
Class 3A
Daniel was the top team in the Upstate 3A qualifying tournament. The Lions are third after the opening round at Diamondback Golf Club in Loris, trailing Atlantic Collegiate by 11 shots and Bishop England by nine.
Sasha Challagolla of Hartsville leads the individual competition by two shots over Daniel’s Ever Deaton.
The final rounds of all four tournaments are scheduled for Tuesday.
