Clemson golfer Carson Young fired a 7-under par round of 64 to hold a three shot lead entering the second round of US Amateur qualifying at the Columbia Country Club.
Young shot his round early in the day and his lead held up as over 90 golfers attempted to make the cut and play the second round.
Trevor Phillips, a Boiling Springs High School golfer is in second place after shooting a 4-under par 67.
USC golfers Keenan Huskey from Greenville and Will Murphy from Columbia are tied for third place at 3-under par 68.
The qualifying tournament has three spots for golfers to advance to the US Amateur. The tournament will also have two golfers qualify for alternate spots in the Amateur.
63 golfers shot 76 or better and made the cut to play in the final round.
Caleb Proveaux from Gilbert and a future USC golfer shot a 2-under par 68. Boiling Springs High School golfer and two-time SC AAAA individual champion Trent Phillips is tied with J.D. Lehman of Charleston at 1-under par.
The 2015 United States Amateur Championship will be conducted at Olympia Fields Country Club in Olympia Fields, Ill on August 17-23, 2015.
The final round will be played on Tuesday.
