Srinivasan third, Furman fourth at Annika Intercollegiate

Natalie Srinivasan was in the middle of a battle for the lead at the Annika Intercollegiate all through the final round. The Lady Paladin golfer with the lead, and held the top spot deep into the round.

Late in the round Maria Fassi of Arkansas moved past Srinivasan and took over the top spot.

Fassi, who is among the top college players in the country, shot a 6-under par final round that included five birdies on the back nine holes. It was her second straight individual victory.

Fassi’s 10-under par winning score helped Arkansas to their second straight win this fall. The Razorbacks shot a 16-under par total for the victory.

Srinivasan had two bogeys in the final four holes to drop into a tie for third place with four other golfers. The Dorman High School grad shot rounds of 70-68-74 for a 212, 4-under par total.

Reona Hirai shot a final round 72 to finish in a tie for 18th. Furman counted final round scores from Haylee Harford and Alice Chen who tied for 30th.

The tournament featured 12 of the top women’s teams in the country. UCLA and Stanford finished second and third respectively. The Lady Paladins finished in a tie for fourth place with Texas.

Furman finished in front of expected NCAA tournament teams from South Carolina, Southern Cal, Florida State and Georgia.

The Lady Paladins will return to tournament play in just a few days. Furman will net compete at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational starting on October 9th.
