Chesnee, Christ Church, Rock Hill lead SC High School Championships

The first round is on the scoreboard at the state high school golf championships. Four locations are hosting

the four classification championship tournaments.

AAA at Camden

Chesnee has a two shot lead over Bishop England after the first round of the AAA tournmaenet at the Camden Country Club. The Eagles finishje the first round at 32 over par while the Bishops carded a 34 over par total.

The Eagles were led by Garrett Cooper who finished the first round at 4 over par. Cooper is tied for third place with Wills Kelly from Camden.

The individual lead is held by Andrew Swanson from Beaufort who posted a 1-under par round of 69. PJ Jacobs from Mid Carolina is second at 2-over par.

Woodruff is in a third place tie with the host team from Camden High School. The two schools are tied at 39 over par.

Two golfers are tied for fifth place. Phoebe Carles from Clinton and JJ Keene from Bishop England each shot rounds of 5-over par.

Rounding out the top-10 Chesnee’s Jake Vaughn, Woodruff’s Daniel Brasington and Blake Dimsdale from Gilbert are all tied for seventh place at 6-over par.

AA at Mount Vintage

The Christ Church Cavaliers have a 16 shot lead in the AA state championship tournament. The Cavaliers are trying to win their 3rd straight AA championship.

Southside Christian shot a 320 total to be in second place, four shots ahead of Fox Creek. Ninety six is in fifth place after posting a 335 total.

Individually Rye Tift from Oceanside shot a 70 to hold the individual lead by 2 shots over Colin Trahan from Fox Creek.

Walker Jennings from Christ Church is in a third place tie with Tillman Alverson. Each golfer shot 74.

Defending state champion Rafe Reynolds fro Christ Church is fifth after shooting a 76.

AAAAA at Lexington

The hottest high school golf team in the state continued their streak as Rock Hill has the first round lead in the AAAAA state championship.

The Bearcats came into the championship after impressive wins at the Southern Cross and the Upper State AAAAA Qualifying tournament.

The Bearcats have a 10 shot lead over Dorman.  Rock Hill posted a 293 total.

While Rock Hill has a comfortable lead there is a four-way battle for second as only five shots seperate the teams.

Dorman is second with Mauldin is third at 306,  Wando is fourth at 307 and James Island is fifth.

Individually future Clemson golfer Drayton Stewart from James Island has a one shot lead over Chris Fortenberry from Carolina Forest.

Nathan Franks from Dorman is tied with Gaffney’s Seth Taylor, Rock Hill’s Zach Reuland and Wando’s Austin Mosher for third place at 1-under par.
