Greenville and Tri-County Chapters win Thomas D. Todd All-Star Tournament

Thomas D Todd All-Star Champions (l-r) Girls 13-18 Emily Baker – Tri-County, Boys 15-18 Bryce Wittmer – York, Boys 13-14 Chase Cline – Tri-County.

The Hootie & the Blowfish Summer Series ended for Upstate juniors at the Thomas D. Todd All-Star Championship played at Carolina Springs Golf Club.

Juniors earned their way to the All-Star competition by finishing on top of their age group divisions during the summer-long series of tournaments organized by the South Carolina Junior Golf Association.

The age group competition for boys and girls is played from various tees and a different number of holes to accommodate the ages of the competitors.

Emily Baker from the Tri-County Chapter birdied her final hole to win the Girls 13-18 age group competition.

She finished one shot in front of Ansley Bryson from the Upstate Chapter.

The boys competition was won by  Bryce Wittmer from the York Chapter. He added a little extra flare to his victory with a hole-in-one.

Thomas DeMint won a 3-hole playoff to win the 7-9 year old title at Carolina Springs.

Whittmer aced the 8th hole at Carolina Springs and that might have been the difference between winning and being forced into a playoff.

Whittmer’s 143 total was one shot better than Ashton Eubanks from Tri-County and Spence Hagood from the Piedmont Chapter.

In the boys 10-12 year old division the title was also decided by a single stroke.

Bennett Wiggins from the Aiken Chapter topped Jace Danbom from the Upstate Chapter by a shot for the title.

Maybe the most exciting age group division was the boys 7-9 year old.

Thomas DeMint and Heyward Jennings both from Greenville battled it out for the title and went into a sudden death playoff.

DeMint birdied all three of the playoff holes to top Heyward and win the age group title.

Chase Cline from Tri-County was an easy winner in the boys 13-14 year old division taking the title by 7 shots.

Talulah Grace Wilson from the Piedmont Chapter won the girls 7 – 9 year old age group title by 11 shots.

Karsyn Herren from the Aiken Chapter got off to a fast start and kept going on to win the girls 10-12 year old title by 4 shots.
