Future Clemson golfer Tip Price was playing in his fourth Southern Cross tournament and shared some of the experience he has gained over the years with his teammates before the final round at the always challenging Palmetto Golf Club..

“I told everybody to not get ahead of themselves. Play to the front of the green and we would be all right,” Price said, “I think the way we played in the first round gave us confidence we could get the win,” he added.

Price, who has not been satisfied with his play this spring , gave credit to Charlie Warren’s play as being the biggest part of the win,

“”Everybody had to play well for us to win, but Charlie played great, His score counted in every round. Our team is deeper this year than in past year’s and that also helped in the win,” he said.

The first round highlight for the Red Raiders was Hugh Faulkner’s 1-under par 70 to share the first round lead and get the team off to a good start.

“Hugh got us off to a great start and then Tip and Parker (Homesley) and Charlie all played great. It was a real team win,” said Cattrell.

“We’ve been chasing Flora for a state championship for a couple of years now. It was good to finish in front of them and now I hope we can do it at state,” said Price.
