The final stage tournament is being played at Whirlwind Golf Club in Chandler, Arizona.
Novak opened the Q-School final with an even par round of 72 and is tied for 70th.
South Carolina grad Sean Kelly shot a 1-under par round of 71 to be tied for 52nd place.
The first round leader is Jose Toledo who shot an 11-under par 61.
The winner of the Qualifying tournament gets to play the full Web.com season as an exempt player.
Golfers who finish between number 2 and number 10 will be exempt to play in the first 12 events of the new season.
Finishers between number 11 and number 45 are exempt for the first 12 events of the 2018 Tour.
