Rain again shares the headline with the golfers at the South Carolina Amateur being played at Thornblade Club.
A very busy second day allowed golfers to finish the first round that was suspended because of rain and then begin play in the second round.
Nothing changed at the top of the leader board when all scores from the opening round were posted.
Jake Carter’s 64 held up. The FSU golfer from Aiken held a to shot lead when the second round started on Friday.
Carter played early on Thursday and avoided the bad weather, but his tee time in the second round was later in the afternoon.
The first round leader was only able to complete six holes of his second round. His score had not changed. When play was suspended Carter was still at 7-under par.
The clubhouse lead was taken by Logan Sowell. The College of Charleston golfer posted a 3-under par 68 to go with his first round 66 to stand at 8-under par.
Former Greenville County Amateur champion Danny Brock completed nine holes of his second round. With nine more holes to play Brock is tied with Carter, one shot behind Sowell.
Tyler Gray from Lugoff was 2-under par in the second round, but Gray only played seven holes.
The 1990 champion and three-time SCGA Player of the Year Todd White from Spartanburg was able to shoot a 3-under par 68 to go with his first round 67.
White and is in a four-way tie for fifth place with Wofford golfer Ryan Marter, Judson Holiday from Aynor and Josh Branyon from Honea Path.
The best completed second round was turned in by Brady Hinkle from Lancaster. Hinkle shot a 4-under par 67 and is at 2-under par.
Once again, on Friday, about half the field could not complete their second round. Golfers will come back to the course for an 8 am restart.
When the round is completed the field will be cut to the low 70s and ties and the third round will begin off double tees at 12:30 pm.
