Every year there are a few quiet weeks before golfers get busy and put aside holiday celebrations to start tuning up for the new golf season.
There isn’t a lot of new news right now so we thought to offer our readers a chance to catch up on the big and little stories that made up an interesting 2022 golf season in the Carolinas.
For the last 31 years, The Golf Club newspaper and this website for the past ten years have tried to spotlight as much local golf news as possible.
While we enjoy watching the game played at the highest level on the PGA Tour, we have always focused our coverage on the golfers who enjoy playing the game right here in the Carolinas.
We have always thought a golfer winning a local tournament, a Pee Wee getting a first win, or an everyday golfer having a once in a lifetime moment deserves a headline.
Andy Warhol gets credit for a popular saying “everyone will have 15 minutes of fame” sometime in their lives.
We are trying to do our part to help some area golfers enjoy those 15 minutes and share them with their friends.
When you see our pictures of event winners, the smiles and joy of winning a small trophy and a gift certificate, are no different then seeing the look on a Tour player’s face as they slip on a green jacket.
We are glad we have been able to tell these stories. It may not be as glamorous as covering Tiger and Rory, but when you change the names the stories really are the same.
We have placed .pdf files of each of our tissues here, if you care to look back at some of the stories from 2022.
Jed Blackwell and I are getting ready to start the new season with our March issue.
We appreciate the support that has made our effort possible for all these years and hope this year we may be able to help you enjoy your 15 minutes of fame in our paper or website.
