The #1 NCAA DII Anderson Trojans have a 6-shot lead after the first round of the South Atlantic Conference tournament being played in Hickory, NC.
The Trojans also have the individual tournament leader as Alejandro DeCastro carded a 5-under par 67 to hold a 2-shot lead over teammate Calahan Keever.
Last week DeCastro along with other Anderson team members swept all the major SAC seasonal awards.
DeCastro was named the conference freshman of the year.
Senior Reece Coleman won Player of the Year honors and Anderson’s Director of Golf Danny Neal was named the Conference’s top coach.
Lenoir Rhyne is in second place with Tusculum in third going into the second round.
