Bradshaw advances to Match Play at US Junior

Sage Bradshaw turned in one of the hot rounds of the day at the US Junior Championship in Texas.

The junior from Bluffton shot his way into a third place tie after the completion of stroke play competition.

The winner of the SCJGA Beth Daniel Junior Azalea championship finished the first round of stroke play in 20th place, but his 4-under par 67 moved him up into a tie for third place going into the first round of Match Play.

Bradshaw closed out his round at the Trinity Forest course with four birdies on his last five holes to secure one of the top spots when Match Play begins.

The third seeded Bradshaw’s first match in the Round of 64 is with Drew Woolworth from Oregon.

Of the golfers with Palmetto State ties, Bradshaw was the only junior to advance to the round of 64.

Greer’s Dawson Szabo carded a 1-over par round on Tuesday, but the SCGA Junior Champion along with his Blue Ridge High School teammate Owen Kinnunen missed qualifying for Match Play.

Clemson recruit Jackson Byrd had been in the top 30 after the first round, but a difficult second round dropped the future Tiger out of running for a place in Match Play.

Byrd shot a 7-over par second round to also miss the cut.

The Stroke Play Medalist at the US Junior was Mason Hall from Georgia who finished stroke play at 7-under par to earn the top seed for the Round of 64.
