Hewson advances to Match Play

Clemson’s Alice Hewson has advanced to the match play portion of the USGA Women’s Amateur championship.

The rising junior finished the stroke play qualifying portion of the championship tied for fifth place. Hewson shot rounds of 71 and 70 for a 141 total.

Alabama golfer Lauren Stephenson from Lexington finished stroke play in a tie for seventh place with a 142 total.

Spartanburg golfer Ann Taylor Hough is involved in a playoff for one of the last spots to advance to match play. The playoff will fill out the 64 player field and also seed the players in the match play bracket.

Hough shot rounds of 77 and 73 for a 150 total and a tie for 57th place.

Ann Taylor Hough is in a playoff for the last right spots to advance to Match Play at the USGA Women’s Amateur.

The Virginia Tech golfer is one of 11 golfers who will be competing for 8 spots in the field of 64 when match play begins on Wednesday.

Shannon Aubert from Stanford won medalist honors after shooting 9-under par for the 36 hole stroke play qualifying tournament.

Furman golfer Natalie Srinivasan from Spartanburg missed the cut to make match play by a shot. The Dorman High School grad shot rounds of 75 and 76 for a 151 total.
